Check out this site on Detroit Brewing, long since closed. The pics are worth the trip alone.

Gun powder

Some people aren't worth the gunpowder to blow them up. Like this bank robber in San Diego.

Is Reuters even trying anymore?

Or have they just given up and gone the way of The Onion, and the Weekly World News? More "evidence".

Another Vegas pic

Andy with Teller after the Penn & Teller show (yes, he talks after the show, him not talking during the show is just a schtick). I have a pic of Noreen with Penn, but it's horrid. Posted by Picasa

Trust the media?

Not so much. If you trusted the MSM (MainStream Media, such as CBS, NY Times, LA Times, etc.) to accurately report the news without bias, it's time you woke up. This story should totally destroy any credibility the MSM has with you.

Vegas Trip Report

(pictures to follow - my work laptop hates my camera memory card)

Went up to Vegas on Saturday, came back on Wed. We stayed at the Luxor, which was just OK; they had people plugging their timeshare and you had to walk past these bozos every time you went to/from your room. I absolutely frigging hate that and the Flamingo (and now, the Luxor) are off "the list" of places I'd stay at. We ate at 2 of their restaurants, the Pyramid Cafe (just OK) and the deli (the worst coffee I've had since I got out of the military). But, the room was nice, if poorly soundproofed. The maid on our floor also came around the floor at about 8:50AM banging away on the doors to see where she could start working at; sheesh!

On Sat nite we saw Drew Carey (at the Luxor theater) and he was hilarious. He did the improv thing (like "Whose Line is it Anyway?") with a cast of 6 or 7 supporting people, including regulars from the show. It was a blast and one of the funniest moments was when Drew was doing a gag and got 2 words into it and you could see his mind just come off the tracks and he said "Fuck! I had something funny and I fucked it up!!"

Sunday (our anniversary!) we just futzed around; we had dinner at the Benihana's knockoff at the Rio which was pretty good. We saw Penn & Teller and they rocked. It was lots of fun and they came out and signed autographs and snap pics with people. They were both very cordial and seemed to appreciate their fans.

Monday we hit the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace; while most of the shops were quite extravagant, some were reasonable. I had a smoke at my new favorite cigar place in the whole world, Casa Fuente. Their prices were reasonable (i.e.: same as San Diego, as opposed to lots of other places in Vegas that are super high) and they had a full bar, serving the best mojitos ever. (Now I have to learn to make mojitos!). They even had a "black list" of single malt scotches and other super high-end drinks...I was too chicken to look at the black list (because I knew I'd spend all my money!) We also saw a Rat Pack impersonator show that night; it was a bit of an adventure finding the place it was at (Greek Isles)...and when we got there, I wasn't sure I wanted to bother with seeing the show; it was a small, kind of run down place, but we saw the show anyway and the show was great! Their impersonators did all of their own singing (to a live, real band with real brass, drums, bass & piano, no less!).

Tuesday was kind of a do-nothing day - Noreen worked on an online course for her job while she did that, I played in a $30, 80-seat poker tournament at the Luxor; I lasted about 1:15 and played well, just wasn't getting the cards. (I think I was in the last 20 players!). Tues nite, Noreen wanted to learn to play craps, so we went to Circus Circus which ALWAYS has a $5 crap table running. I turned $60 into $0 and Noreen turned her $20 into $114. And we went back to Casa Fuente for more mojitos and a cigar; they had a DJ playing and their "patio" area was mobbed, but it was cool.

Wed was the drive back.

The drives were nice, no traffic and it's nice to get approx 30MPG doing 80MPH. The car's onboard computer kept chirping about check oil level, so after I dropped off the luggage, I went to the gas station to fill up and take care of the oil. I checked and it needed 1 qt; so I removed the oil filler cap and dropped it into the engine compartment. I looked & looked and couldn't find it (no, it didn't hit the ground). I knew better than to start the engine and drive somewhere since the cap could be caught up in the clockwork somewhere or something, so I called Benz and they said the same thing and to get the car towed to the dealer. There's a pan under the engine that protects it from road debris and it's probably sitting on that. But it's better to deal with the inconvinence of getting the car towed & such than to have something rattling around and getting caught in the belts.

Pics will come up later today/tonight.....

PLO - Nazi Connection

Ever wonder why the PLO is so anti-Semetic? Maybe it has to do with their direct lineage from the Nazis. Yes, the Hitler/SS type Nazis...
