A post from "elsehwhere"
The subtitle of this blog is "Andy in San Diego and elsewhere" Today, is definitely "elsewhere". I'm in Alliance, NE. (that's Nebraska). I was originally scheduled to fly out on Friday. But, since the job got done, my co-worker and I changed our flights to fly out on Thursday. We even paid for the pleasure opportunity to fly out on Thurs. But, then the saga began. Around, 2:25AM, a plane small, twin-engined plane crashed on approach to the Alliance airport. He crashed approx 5 mi away from the airport. When we left for breakfast around 9:30am, it was cold (25F), icy and foggy. We called the airport after breakfast (11am-ish) and the lady at the airport told us not to check out of the hotel; the morning flight was cancelled and our flight out of Alliance, scheduled for 1:30 wasn't looking good. The plane needed to leave the barn in Cheyenne, WY, head to Denver and then get up to Alliance. Denver's airport was totally screwed up because of the storm.
Around noon-ish, our flight was officially cancelled, so I called United to re-schedule our flights for Friday (back to what they were!). So, they did it. I checked the United site around 3pm and didn't see my flights listed for online checkin, but they confirmed the flights were good for Friday.
Then, I called again around 6pm and they told me that my Denver to San Diego flight was already cancelled. So, they changed our flight for the Denver to San Diego leg to the 8pm flight; if we do everything on time, we have a 5+ hr layover in Denver. I'm not convinced that Alliance's airport will be open tomorrow as the weather forecast doesn't bode well.

1 Comments:
