Old Companies
When I was in Japan, I was quite interested/fascinated in the fact that Mitsukoshi, one of the major department store companies in Japan, was started in 1673. (remember, that's 100 years before the American Revolution), so I've started collecting a list of old companies.

Kongo Gunmi a company in Japan that builds and maintains temples started around 593.

Whitechapel Bell Foundry 1570 (they made Big Ben, whose 150th Birthday is 10Apr2008)

That IS really fascinating. Imagine a company that's been around since forever like that temple builder.
BTW, the process to leave a comment has become quite a pain.
