Aspirin
If aspirin had to go through the FDA approval process today as a new drug, it wouldn't make it. This and other good stuff in Reason today.

The notion that the FDA wouldn't approve aspirin has been around for about 30 years. Thank heavens it appears that aspirin won't have to go thru the approval process. I can't imagine living without it or having to pay prescription prices for it!
